The History of The Poplars

The Poplars was formerly the vicarage to St John’s Church in Alsagers Bank. It stands in it’s own large private gardens and enjoys some of the finest view’s in Staffordshire looking over the Cheshire plain’s to the Welsh hills and Shropshire.

The Poplars was opened as a Private Care Home for ten People in August 1984. Since then the property has been extended and updated, thirty-three people can now comfortably live in this beautiful family built care home. The home provides 24 hour residential and specialist dementia care, in beautiful surroundings. All of our care home staff benefit from the support of an experienced management team who ensure we attract and retain the best staff, offering extensive induction training and on-going learning to ensure our residents receive the highest quality of care.

The Poplars is registered with the ‘Care Quality Commission (CQC) who are the independent regulator’s of healthcare and adult social care services in England. We also work closely with both Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent adult social care teams and local healthcare services.

The Poplars has two dedicated registered managers who have worked within The Poplars for 26 years.

Karen Key and Lorna Chell are both proud of what The Poplars has become and both strive to ensure that all staff work to the same ethos that has been within The Poplars since they both started work back in 1991.

” We pride ourselves in making a real difference to the lives of our residents, always going above and beyond to meet their expectations through the choices we provide in our person-centred care approach within our home.”
